SB 1070 has created controversies whether it would be a good or bad law overall. Both sides to the bill have strong supporters that make me indecisive on whether im for or against it. This bill would be a good thing for the state in Arizona in which it could “benefit some workers and unemployment people.” ( Hansen 2010) Being in the economic crisis our nation is in, SB 1070 would help those that are unemployed find jobs particularly in Arizona. This could also mean that workers and demand a higher pay since they are working legally and pay doesn’t have to be given “under the table.”With the bill the revenue spend on immigrants would decrease, helping the economic state of Arizona on respect to that matter. Although this bill could create tons of jobs for the Americans in Arizona, it could also effect the economic status of that state negatively.
Reason for my rejection to approve the bill as a law. With SB1070 it is said that “businesses could grow more slowly because of higher labor costs and lighter demand, and consumers could face higher prices for some goods and services.”(Hansen 2010) Also, Arizona’s population consists of a large amount of immigrants that the state needs to improve its economic satiability. Hotels and large corporations are being effected by the boycotts against the bill, they state that the boycotts are hurting their business. Not only will this law hurt the economic wellbeing of Arizona but studies by the Perryman group analyzed that the U.S. economy would shrink by 245billion without illegal immigrants and lose 2.8 million jobs. Both arguments to the bill impact the economy and as well an American him/her self. So I question do we really want to get rid of our immigrants.

In the discussion regarding the Afghanistan war, my brother agreed with me that its necessary for the war to end. He stated that the war should end since it creates enemies for the nation and puts the life of Americans in danger. He believes that the war is a good yet bad thing to the country since it helps our nation be safe but as well hurts it. I argued that the war was just a money waist for our country, considering the economic crisis we are in. I as well stated that the war had no longer a reason to go on, as said in class we started the war fighting terrorism but slowly drifted from the main objective. We both believed that the amount of money spend on the war and on Afghanistan could be put to use in other places in our own country. For examples schools, instead of spending billions on war our nation should consider the effect that cutting school budgets have on students.
Although through out the conversation my brother stood in the same position as me, I was shocked to find out how little he knew in reality. He had one or two different opinions about certain things regarding the war, yet his arguments defending those opinions were weak. For instance, I stated that the war was helping a country lost politically and we had no reason to be there any longer and he argued that the Afghanistan government should order the capture of the so called “enemy” we were after, this showed me that he didn’t really know much about the reality regarding the governments power over in Afghanistan. This conversation gave me an opportunity to explore others opinions on the war and shockingly it also revealed how unpopular it has become over time.

The most economical issue today facing the united states would be all the budget cuts and unemployment. I believe this is a major issue in that it effects not just the economy of the united states but as well as the civilians. With budget cuts made it is believed that it would help the economy but contrary it makes Americans want to save the little money they have and therefore not enough money gets rotated and brought into the whole economic process. Such that it brings the country's economy down and business loss as well. Not only do we see a decrease in the economy and businesses but prices increase and the consumer is less likely to purchase like they once did before. Affecting the employment status, and so we get an inflation of unemployment and people not being able to provide for the economy as they once did.
Without the income of these individuals the country is unable to progress. We all suffer and eventually everyone has to reduce what they can spend. Spending money becomes a choice for Americans who have to choose on what they can and need in a daily basis to survive. There fore i believe that this is an issue that greatly affects the unites states today.
